The Rangers

Elephant Aware employs 17 Rangers to monitor and protect Elephants and Giraffe and to help communities to live safer lives with wildlife by preventing Wildlife Conflict. Each of the rangers are Maasai and they have grown up within our area of operation, a fact that is incredibly essential to their work. Everyday these rangers work closely with their fellow communities, whether it is to guide herders and livestock safely away from elephants or helping escort children on their way to school or informing women collecting water or firewood of the presence of elephants, the rangers play a vital role as both wildlife guardians and first responders to any incidents in this area.
