Where We Work

The Siana Conservation Area, where Elephant Aware operates everyday borders on the world renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve and it a vast area of amazing biodiversity with varying terrain from woodland and wide open plains to riverine forest and enormous hills. Elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs and small yet rarely seen species such as caracals and honey badgers call the Siana Conservation Area home and depend on the continuous protection of this landscape for their survival. Though this area is still mostly wild because of our diligent efforts, it is also interspersed with human settlements which means that people and wildlife live alongside each other. This is one of the reasons why Elephant Aware’s work is so essential to the Mara ecosystem.
